SO SMART!!! I should use a clicker for MY Labrador retriever! Nice tricks, Bella!

Shaun Bentley says:

you tie the click to indicate the dog has done what you want him to do. you asscioiate the click with a treat, so you can pinpoint the exact point the dog did as asked.

Had my 10-week-old Malamute for 2 days so far and have taught her Sit, Down and Come but I’m thinking clicker-training is looking like a more effective means than the way I’m currently teaching her (just with verbal and hand commands and repetition). Any body tried both approaches and can compare them to me? Just to help me make my mind up, I’m just worried if I use a clicker then she will always expect a treat over praise and I frequently just use praise so she won’t get greedy.

Pyasa Hyena says:

ok then i will wait please tell if you have any training videos? how to? i will be much obliged, or have you seen any on the net thanks.

connor81296 says:

25 days old is far too young to be away from their mother. Also training usually starts at about 8 weeks of age.

Sharon Yildiz says:

Wow, osukef: that sounds like jealousy talking. I don’t know this dog or trainer, but I’ve been clicker training since 1995, and this level of skill is not uncommon for a clicker trained puppy of this age. FYI, most puppies are weaned around 5 weeks of age, sold at 7-8 weeks of age, and the puppy in this video looks EXACTLY like it is 10 weeks old, as “advertised.” I’m familiar with Lab puppies because I’m a volunteer instructor for a guide dog group that uses Labs.

Kyle Massey says:

There is absolutely no way that this dog was a) 10 weeks old at the time this video was taken b) was even a labrador…clearly, the dog has learned well. but it doesnt even LOOK like a lab of that age, not to mention anyone who’s ever owned a lab knows this just isnt possible 2 weeks after weaning age, #BULLS**T

Josh Davis says:

Got my dog to shake with both paws too haha. and she does high fives and such

Dog: …WOUF! xD ♥

michellenn93 says:

you just teach her to lay on her side first then everytime she does it say “bang” and give her a treat and use the clicker. She will then learn that when you say bang thats what you want her to do. You have to have her learn the action before assosiating the word command with it.

chasedrgc1223 says:

@jerryficus how did you train her to do paw (shake), and “bang”? I just got my lab, Sasha, today she is 12 weeks old, and would LOVE to teach her these tricks. Thank you.

Kelly G says:

omg how did u do that bang trick!

Luckyseven17 says:

In this video, clicker is not used properly – “click” should come at a time when the dog is doing the trick, not after it. Also, jumping or rolling over is NOT good for a puppy in growth..

winterscrapper says:

How cute is she!!!

I wish I had a dog like that
