Pit Bull Puppy: Obedience Training

Thanks! Share it with your friends!

OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL PIT BULLS ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE NEGATIVE ATTENTION THEY RECEIVE FROM THE MEDIA. This is Cash, he is barely 4 months old and he is already fairly advanced in simple obedience training that my husband and I did on our own. It is important to keep your pit stable and in control, training is forever and should always, ALWAYS be used. It just takes a lot of time and patience, but trust me, it will all be worth it in the end.

Have them watch this video. Also gather as many facts about the breed as you can (both good and bad) so you are ready for any question they have.

Nice job training him. There are too many idiots around here that have pits purely for “bling” effect. They sell pups for 50 bucks a pop. I LOVE pit bulls, but if you don’t have to know-how to train them, bad things can happen in a split second. They can be no more dangerous than a bunny if they get good training, but they instinctively (yes, more than most other dogs) can rip a person or animal apart if they become scared, insecure or threatened. Almost 100% muscle, it seems.

AntiqueMascara says:

You need to start training AS SOON as you get the pup. All trainers will tell you, the sooner you begin the training, even little stuff like sit or come, the better. I train dogs and horses and it’s especially important with horses and fighting dogs like pits. I start as soon as they can walk! It’s training could mean a life one day.

AntiqueMascara says:

Just remember, it’s not the dog. It’s the TRAINING. You can train any dog to do this if you know how.

Wow you did a great job with his training! I’m trying to get my mom and dad to adopt a young pit bull from the spca animal shelter, but my mom is skeptical that the pup might be “untrainable”. I really think I could get her to be a good obedient dog. We have had dogs in the past, and we want another now. Do you have any advice on how I could get my parents to say yes to a young pit bull?

how old should a pitbull be to start training him?
